I get so mad when I see Christians more worried about appearances than the people God's put in their path.
It's so, so wrong.... Jesus was a friend of sinners!!!! Do we even have a clue what that means? That doesn't mean that the people got instantly delivered of every single sin problem they had and then and only then Jesus would hang out with them! NO! God always leaves a bad habit or two so people will learn and grow through the training process. Always!
If we read James chapter 2 we see that if we fail in just one part we are guilty of it all. According to Matt. 15:18-20 even our thoughts are dirty and unclean before a holy God! So why do we think that we have to maintain certain standards????? Who are we trying to impress? What are our motives????
We desperately need his mercy and grace.... I myself run into the holy of holies and receive my robe of righteousness many times a day. Thank God its a free gift!
I make sure that before I get a 'holier than thou' attitude that I say, "It's only by God's grace that I'm not doing 10x worse!" We need to die to what we think people will say and think about us period! Being a 'Living sacrifice' means just that. (Rom 12:1) The Fear of Man is a snare and a trap. (Prov. 20:25)
So this applies to our friends who aren't going to church or living a "Christian lifestyle". Who are we to impose our beliefs on them? Do we think that our rules or false judgements will draw them to Christ? Hardly.... It's God's kindness that leads men to repentance! Not rules and human standards.
I can only speak for myself and I tell you I am so sick of religious people who are trying to maintain their standards. They like the Pharisees conveniently forget love! We got to look right! And oh!, what will the people say if I am seen with you?"
It was people like that that Kept me away from church for a long time! People who want to make you keep paying for your sin that happened years ago. Give me a break!
Religious behavior is concerned with Appearances and it always takes people away from the simplicity of the gospel.
Now a days its very common for people to live together. I might not agree but I am not anybody's judge... My Father is very good at talking to his sons and daughters and the last time I checked He hadn't asked for my help. He told me to love people where they were at and to trust Him to change them, in his timing (not mine).
You know.... quite likely my daughter wouldn't have had a father if I had insisted on this religious standard... and many people would not have gotten saved and healed over the years as a result. My in-laws probably didn't agree with us sharing a bed before marriage but they wisely kept their opinions to themselves. Thank God for people like them. Now did my boyfriend get saved eventually? Yes... and let me tell you it wasn't my religious, self-righteous behavior that won him... it was my non- judgemental love.
Anyhow.... that's my opinion.... I've been praying for my girls and their boyfriends and I believe God has His hand on them..... Hallelujah! I just want to shine so bright for the Lord! I want to emulate love and not religious behavior! There's already too many Christians concerned about what others will think if they do this or that. Lord help us all to die to the fear of man!
Amen!
I'd be very interested to hear how you have handled these kind of situations in your family.
Have a great day with the Lord!

Puppy Turn Around
The puppies are cute at 4 weeks old. They were not very good at licking up the pablum at first. They started licking it off my fingers initially and then I would draw them to the plate edge. Once they realized the food was there they got excited and tried to climb into the plate. Well that was hilarious as all legs skidded out on them.
It took them a while to realize that walking across the plate was not a good idea. I had to keep pulling them back.
The mother is from a little town way past Kitchener and the Daddy is from Missouri. I was really happy with their markings and their health, so you can imagine my shock when the vet told me that one of them had a heart murmur. I had done everything possible to make sure the parents were not related.
"What is that?," I asked in my ignorance.
She replied, "It's when the heart valves don't work properly."
"Is it serious?," I probed, looking for more information.
"No, 95% of the time they go away on their own by the time the dog is full grown," she explained.
Hmm. I couldn't get her to try the stethoscope again and she wrote the damning information on the vet report. This was horrible news. Sick puppies don't sell and I was counting on the money to pay off the summer bills because I didn't have a job. Never mind that fact that I was going back to work and didn't have time to look after an additional puppy.
By the time I got into the car to head home I was upset to say the least. I told the Lord, "This is not blessed. You told me I was blessed, so show me what to say or do to change this into a blessing."
Immediately the words of the vet came back to me.... it goes away on it's own 95% of the time. So what I needed was for God to speed up the healing process. She was an otherwise healthy pup and played as hard or harder than the other pups, so I had peace to pray that.
As soon as I got home I got my son and daughter to agree with me that Ruby was supernaturally healed and that she would never have a heart problem again and neither would her future puppies.
Nothing happened that we could see, no physical witness, tears, heat, tingles. Therefore we stood by faith. I wouldn't let anyone confess anything but health and blessing over Ruby.
It was the longest 4 days ever. I had a hard time sleeping at night because so much was hinged on this puppy selling. I disliked not telling the lady about the situation, but the Lord kept telling me to wait whenever I asked him if I could let her know. Ruby was scheduled to fly out on Tuesday so we went to the vet on Monday.
The senior vet examined her and when she had the stethoscope on her, she kept moving it. Laughter and tears hit me as I realized that she couldn't find the murmur. I had brought two business cards from church and was sharing about all the miracles that had happened recently in the meetings.
She didn't want to acknowledge the miracle and said, "Well, hang on a minute." Bringing out a pediatric stethoscope, she again listened to Ruby's heart from many different angles.
Well it's not there," she stated. "It could be that it was intermittent," she offered by way of explanation.
We know better. Ruby got her miracle and I got my testimony and the opportunity to witness to the receptionist and the vet. To God be all the glory!
Incidentally, this is what the vet put on the travel document:
"Innocent Heart Murmur noted on first exam Aug 19/10.
Unable to detect today - maybe intermittent but unlikely pathological."
I emailed Ruby's new owner with the news and a pdf of the Certificate of Health and gave her the option of taking her or I would refund her money. She decided to take her and Ruby flew out via West Jet on Tuesday.
I rejoice in how it worked out. God is on our side and there is a devil/bully on the loose trying to kill, steal and destroy any area of our lives he can, especially our finances. That is his last stronghold because he knows that money makes the world go around.
So the challenge is to renew our minds and then ask the Lord what we can say or do that will change things. He says that all things will work together for our good, to those that love Him and that we should have no fear of bad news, so now we have to dig in to the word and put it to work for us. (Rom. 8:28, Ps. 112:7-10)
Rejoice! Again I say rejoice! The Lord takes pleasure in the prosperity of his servant.(Psalm 35:27) That's good news in these economic times.
I decree you are blessed with God's wisdom today. May you have His joy in your journey and may you know His love more and more, in Jesus' name I ask. Amen.

Choices at Home
Yet when I went to her house it was tidy and clean and ready for company. I was amazed! "Where do you get the time?" I thought. She doesn't stop until the evening when they watch tv as a family.
I was telling her about what I've been learning about the Lord and that's when the cat got let out of the bag. She admitted, "I haven't done a Bible study in years, really."
The alarm bells went off in my head. She has all these beautiful children in her house and her spiritual gas tank is empty. You cannot give what you don't have.
I remember an older friend telling me once in confidence that she wished she had spent more time in the Word when her children were young. She really valued a tidy house and her three children kept her busy. You know how it goes. She didn't see the value in investing in herself spiritually. Now it's too late. You can't go back in time.
I never forgot her words. I wonder what the Bible has to say to help us? Let's read a bit.
"Now it happened as they went that He entered a certain village; and a certain woman named Martha welcomed Him into her house. And she had a sister called Mary, who also sat at Jesus' feet and heard His word. But Martha was distracted with much serving, and she approached Him and said, "Lord, do You not care that my sister has left me to serve alone? Therefore tell her to help me." And Jesus answered and said to her, "Martha, Martha, you are worried and troubled about many things. "But one thing is needed, and Mary has chosen that good part, which will not be taken away from her." Luke 10:37-40
So the good part is to sit at Jesus' feet. Easy in theory, but how do we do this? I have 4 children, a husband, a farm and a full time job!
Priorities is the answer. I have to keep prioritizing my life and making hard decisions as the Lord leads. My house is not immaculate. It gets cleaned regularly, but on any given day it will look lived in. I want to get a wall hanging that says "The house was cleaned yesterday. Too bad you missed it." I will not be embarrassed or feel shame because of what other women say or think because they see some mess or dirt. If the Lord approves, who are they to say anything?
To help free up some time I have trained my children to help. We all do the laundry (does it ever end?) LOL. If someone is doing the dishes then another one will go feed the horses.
In addition, I rely on teaching cds. I play them in the kitchen when I am cooking, baking and cleaning up. I play them in the car and try to remember the scripture references, or I make notes at stop lights.
cd player is there! |
You probably won't believe it but I have a Bible in my bathroom. Sometimes life is very hectic! I make moments to be with the Lord and then I chew on a scripture verse while I am working.
Over the years the Lord has weeded out many hobbies and crafts from my life. It's all about choices. I can't remember when the last time was that I watched a whole movie. Many of the crafts I used to do I have given away.
He's worth it. He's worth it. One snapshot of Heaven, one miracle healing, one word of knowledge that turns a person's life around... it's worth it all.
So how did I start? One baby step at a time as the Lord led me. He'll lead you too. It might start out with a devotional in the morning then maybe a teaching cd on the way to work. He'll show you. He wants this for you more than you can ever know. I've been working on holiness for 20+ years, so don't compare yourself to me. Just begin where you are. I promise Holy Spirit will help you.
"Evening and morning and at noon I will pray, and cry aloud, And He shall hear my voice." Ps. 55:17 That's a good goal to have. Try to talk to the Lord and read the word, even one verse three times a day. Also, make sure you ask Him what He would like you to say or do. Have fun! Your life will never be the same!
Remember, embarrassment is a big one for us ladies. Many ladies don't want company if the house is not tidy enough because of fear of judgment. I have had it happen to me. I refuse to let anyone or anything dictate my life. If Holy Spirit approves, then I am not going to worry about people. If they judge me because the house isn't clean enough, too bad. It's their problem. I say, "Lord help them. They don't know what they are doing." Amen?
So many people have come to my place and been helped because there was good food around and my spiritual gas tank was full, so the gifts were flowing. When I started this journey I had no miracles, healing, or prophesy operating in my life. They came as I made choices and pressed into Jesus. Looking back at the decisions I have made, I can say they have been well worth while. I hope you are able to say the same thing down the road.
Let's pray. Thank You Lord for encouraging my friend. May they realize how You long for fellowship with them. Give them a hunger for Your word and for You and help them to make the right choices in their lives. Help them to pray in tongues more and thus build themselves up in their most Holy faith. (Jude 20). Amen! I decree that you are blessed and Highly favored by the greatest king of all, JESUS!

Make Each Day Count!
Life is short so I'm making the most of each day. Every new day I want to make sure I make time for the Lord, to praise and worship HIM and to hear His thoughts for my day.
It's amazing how much better my day goes when I do this. You would think that I would have learned this by now and have no problem putting God first.
However, there are a lot of sneaky distractions in life. Kids, walking the dogs, work, husband, commitments in church, errands, housework; need I say more?
In themselves they are not "bad" but when they get between me and the worship that Jesus deserves then they become idols. I keep saying to the Lord that I love Him more than anything... then by my choices I say that He's last on my priority list.
All I can do is repent and get real with Him. Sometimes I'm aware of the distractions and sometimes I'm not. The devil does not want us to worship God because he knows that we will get refreshed and come out of His presence empowered. Thus he tries everything in his arsenal to keep us from seeking the Lord and basking in His presence.
It's a learning process. We all have to journey through the land of distractions and learn to ignore them and just keep seeking the Lord.
Yesterday, I asked the Lord to protect my time with Him. It really helped. I had a great time with Him (Holy Spirit) and got some great downloads to think about.
Today, I finally got to a place where I could sit down after supper and the Heaven's felt like brass. Aha! I've been there before. So I put on a couple of worship songs on youtube (Chris Tomlin and Hill Songs) and agreed with the songs they were singing. Then I started singing my own new song while the songs were singing.
Breakthrough! It worked again! Heaven's open and His presence is all over me etc, etc.
Thank You Jesus for Breakthrough! Now I'm decreeing things He's told me before, calling in the promises He's given me and asking Him who needs prayer (shoring up, protection) and where is the enemy active.
Now that's living! And some people think being a Christian is boring. They don't have a clue!
Got to go... Holy Spirit wants another song and it's another opportunity to make this day count for eternity.
